Since I am taking classes from Penn Foster, this whole online learning thing is pretty new. The other day, I took my first test for my Intro to Business class.
One my first attempt, I scored a 96. And then the screen said that I could retake the exam again. I figured that I would try that out to see if I could get a better score. The one I missed was because I read my notes wrong. On the second try, I scored a 100. I was pretty happy about that.
Then yesterday, while checking my email I received two emails from Penn Foster. They both said "Congratulations". I was curious so I opened the first one and it congratulated me on my score and encouraged me to keep going. The second letter must have been because of the 100. It said, "Hi, Kiley. You've done it again, proven that you have what it takes to master
your lessons and pass your exams. We hope you're proud of yourself, because
you deserve to be. You're on your way to your degree!"
We that made me feel really cool.
On to chapter 4, of Intro to Business.

Welcome to my Accounting Journey
Hello. My name is Kiley. I am a 34 year old mother of two. I have
been married for 7 years and although we've had our ups and downs, my
husband is my best friend and still makes me laugh. I have three cats
who round out our crazy circus life. I went back to work in October 2012
and am enjoying my position but want to better my family's life.
I started this journey almost a year ago. I had always wanted to be a lawyer. I graduated college in 2001 with a degree in Political Science. Which if you want to be a lawyer or in politics is gravy. Otherwise, the job market can be challenging. After graduating, I had my first child and made the decision at that time that law school wasn't for me. I wanted to be able to watch my child grow up and not have to spend 100 hours at a law firm trying to make partner. My journey had changed its course. I've always enjoyed numbers, math and counting money. This lead me into the idea that I might really enjoy accounting. I have an aunt who is a CPA (Certified Public Accountant), she changed careers recently due to personal issues. She told me that I was crazy. So I talked to my husband and he encouraged me to try it out. I decided after much investigation to try the certificate of Accounting through Penn Foster.
I was doing really well and then family tragedy struck. My mother died suddenly. I then went back to work after my husband lost his job. I recently accepted a job with a really great company. The handy thing is that I have some time to work on my Penn Foster studies. I just finished reading the first three chapters of Introduction to Business and took the exam on it. I did really well. I'm pretty proud of myself.
I created this blog to try to get better at updating my life and my studies. How will you know how far you've traveled if you haven't written about the journey?
