Almost Midterms Again!

Hello,

It has been a while since I posted. I have been super busy with work, school, family and life.  Week 5 of this semester just ended and now I am in full swing of Week 6.

I have kept up really well on the assignments, a couple have been turned in slightly late. I am right on target for assignments and grades thus far which makes me very proud. However, the reading for each class is still behind. For this module alone in Business Law, I have six chapters to read. This would not be so daunting but they have to be read before the end of next week, which is midterm week. I have midterms on 7-16 through 7-18.  I am nervous because of the struggles that I have when taking a midterm or test in general.

I am learning a lot this semester in accounting. More about the differences between GAAP and IFRS.  Law is a fun class since that is what I wanted to be when I was a kid (a lawyer). And management is slightly easy, this is because the class I took last semester is a harder class in the management field that the one I am taking now.  It is easy to apply the knowledge from last semester into this class.

My grades have been doing well.

June Term, Week 2

Well, I have finished my first week of the new semester. I have completed all the assignments which is a good thing. The first two weeks brought nine chapters of reading. I have finished two of those but they were very long and both for accounting. Next, I am reading the chapters for Business Law. While there are four of them, they contain less pages that the accounting reading does. After that I will do the management reading.

I am desperately trying to stay on task this semester but it is difficult. With my kids getting out of school soon. I do not want them to be bored all summer because I have homework to do. So I took them out for some fun today. Read all about it on my other blog.  http://kangabounce.blogspot.com/2015/06/girls-day-out.html?spref=fb

With keeping on task in mind, I am going to get back to some reading. No grades yet to report. So I will leave you with my second week schedule.

If you could get up the courage to begin, you have the courage to succeed.

Semester 3 and Semester 2 - Grades

This week started my new semester.  I have management, business law, and accounting 201.

I also received all of my grades for the second semester.

Managerial Communication - 87 - B
Macroeconomics                   - 87 - B
Accounting 102                     - 70 - C

They are respectable and I am proud of them.

But enough about the past.  Only looking forward to this new semester. I am vowing to keep up better and try to stick to the reading. I have nine chapters to read for the first two weeks.  I have one chapter already completed and am working on the second one.  The chapters in the accounting book are more involved and take more time. I am also going to the library more. It is a better atmosphere for getting the reading completed. Less distractions both furry and otherwise.

Here is my schedule for the first week. Just as a reminder that green is completed.

No bird soars too high if he soars with his own wings.

Second Semester in the Books, Bring on the Next One

Good Evening,

I have not posted since the semester started; yet, I just finished it. I turned in my Accounting 102 Final about an hour ago and it felt wonderful.

I was not as diligent with my workload as I had hoped. I kept up pretty well until the midterms and then my system broke down on a core level. I got lazy after not doing very well on the midterms.

I have most of my grades and will post them near the bottom.

I have a glorious week off until the next semester starts. My June semester classes will be:
Accounting 201 - Intermediate Accounting I
Law 201 - Business Law
Man 301 - Principles of Management

I am going to push myself to keep up better this semester. I do, however, realize that there are going to be some very serious hurdles that I must push through. My children will be home all summer and I still have work and family obligations.  I must continue to tell myself that I can do this and ask for help when needed.

Have a wonderful Memorial Day!

New Month New Semester

Hello,

I am back after my week off from school.  Still very happy about my grades. I can not believe that I got a B in Statistics, but now it is time to move on.  As of 3/3/2015, I started my second semester at Thomas Edison State College.

This semester I am taking Accounting 102, Macroeconomics, and Managerial Communication.  I have created my calendars to keep up with the work and there is a lot of work to be done this semester. I have a quiz every week in Macro, and a written assignment due in Accounting.

I have to take a midterm in each of the classes and luckily do not have a final in any of them.  I just finished the first week today. I had to read one chapter in accounting, three in communication and two in macroeconomics.  I completed almost all of the reading. I have one chapter left in macroeconomics but will get it done this week with the rest of the weeks work.

I will give you the calendar for this week and for next as I just finished this week. I turned in my accounting assignment slightly late but hopefully it will be excepted, it was only 3 hours late.

December 2014 Semester - Final Grades

Well my final grades have been tabulated........

First off ,

Accounting 101 - B (80)  Not a high B but I will take it.

Next,

Marketing - C (77)   Since I struggled with this class, I figure this grade is pretty darn good.

and lastly,

Statistics - B (81)  I was completely floored by this grade.

On to March 2015 semester.

End of December 2014 Semester

Today marks the end of the semester for December 2014 for me. I have turned in all assignments for Statistics, Accounting 101, and Intro to Marketing.  I have to get at least a D in Statistics and a C in Accounting and Marketing since they are core classes. Per the grades, I have the D in Statistics already and have one more assignment that has not been graded. I just might pull off a C.  I did not do so well on the Final for the class. I honestly was completely lost.

For Accounting and Marketing, I am waiting on the Final Projects to be graded. For each class, I need at least a 50 out of a 100 to get enough points for a C.  My midterm grades really hurt me in these classes.

Grade Update:

Statistics:
  • Discussion Forum 6                                     100
  • Written Assignment 5                                    97.5
  • Written Assignment 6                                    82.5
  • Final Exam                                                    35 ( I know it is horrible)
  • Final Project   - the difference between a C and a D
Marketing:
  • Discussion Forum 5                                     78
  • Written Assignment 4                                   80
  • Written Assignment 5                                   80
  • Written Assignment 6                                   85
  • Written Assignment 7                                 100
  • Final Project (Need a 55 for a C)
Accounting 101:
  • Written Assignment 7                                  70 - late
  • Written Assignment 8                                  70 - late
  • Written Assignment 9                                  70 - late
  • Written Assignment 10                                78 - late
  • Written Assignment 11                                92 - slightly late
  • Final Project (Need 50 for a C)
I can only try harder next semester. I really want to do well and I have a few ideas on how to better keep myself on task.  I need to spend a bit more time with the books and less with everything else.  I am only human and no matter what there are only 24 hours in a day and to function I must sleep at least 6 of those each day if not more.  I must get the reading done and the assignments in on time.

I hope everyone has enjoyed reading about this first semester in my journey to become an accountant. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think.

Next Semester starts: March 2, 2015 - Accounting 102, Macroeconomics, and Managerial Communication.

Week 12, The End is Near

I spent most of my week reading. Unfortunately, all of this reading leads to a mammoth amount of work that needs to be completed.  I have made great strides in this as well.

Today alone, I turned in four written assignments and two parts of a final project.  All of these were for Marketing

Therefore, I have the remainder of work left to complete.  Please keep me in your thoughts, this week is going to be tough.

Statistics
  • Written Assignments 5 and 6
  • Final Project
  • Final Test
Marketing:
  • Final Project Steps 8, 9

Accounting:
  • Written Assignments 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11
  • Final Project

I realize that I have also not mentioned the reading that was done. I read the four chapters for accounting. I'm not sure about how much more will get done as the reading is not graded and the assignments are. I'm hoping to get some more reading done for Statistics but we shall see.

My goal for next semester is to not get as far behind. I attribute my issues with the fact that Christmas and my birthday both occurred during this semester.

Update on grades:

Statistics:

  • Discussion Forum 5                       100
  • Written Assignment 4                    100
  • Written Assignment 5                        0 -
Marketing:

  • Discussion Forum 4                            0 - Since it was late, I will not get any credit
Accounting:
  • Discussion Forum 4                           70
  • Discussion Forum 5                           90

Week 11 and One More to Go

Well it has been several weeks since I last posted.

Tomorrow starts Week 11 of this semester and there is only more week left of work for these classes.  I am still extremely behind but am working diligently to rectify this situation. I have also registered for next semesters classes that start at the beginning of March. They are: Accounting-102: Managerial Accounting, ECO-111 : Macroeconomics, and MAN-373 : Managerial Communications.

I was very proud of myself today. I completed six discussion forums and two responses per forum. I have completed all of the discussion forums for each of my classes this semester. I will not get full credit on some but some credit is better than none. Another accomplishment today is that I finished steps 3 through 5 for my marketing final project.   I got into a really great groove with this and hope that I turned it in in time to get at least a bit of response from my professor.  These steps are not individually graded but make up that whole of the final.

The remaining work that I have to complete is as follows:

Statistics:

  • Read parts or wholes of seven chapters.
  • Written Assignments 5 and 6
  • Final Project
  • Final Test
Marketing:

  • Read eight chapters
  • Written Assignments 4, 5, 6, and 7
  • Final Project Steps 6, 7, 8, 9

Accounting:

  • Read four chapters
  • Written Assignments 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11
  • Final Project

So just a recap, I have to read 19 chapters (parts and wholes), 11 written assignments, three final projects and one final test.

I have an uphill battle, but I am determined and I have this week and next to get it done. I will post my final set of due dates. As a reminder, anything in green is completed. I have also included the due dates for Week 12!
